Projects at Judy’s
The first project was inviting author, Patricia Freeman to read to the children from Judy’s neighbourhood in her garden. If you are a subscriber to my other Substack newsletter, Sea Dream Press, then you most likely have already read about the event. In case you haven’t, here it is…
Some of the photos not shared previously was the outdoor dunny door I painted for the children. As you can see I had a mishap with the paint and Judy and I both felt it was a great idea to paint the pavers!
Next… Ideas for Easter!
Judy and I had quite a lengthy conversation about Easter… what it means to children today and it was important to us that we have a unique approach that meant no eggs… no cute bunny rabbits… no plastic.
So I went on an Easter hunt to accommodate an idea that came from Judy’s daughter, to gift seeds as opposed to chocolate and found cardboard shot cups!
I filled each cup with one intact paper daisy full of seeds and sealed it with a piece of coloured paper then tied the paper on with green twine and decorated them with stickers.

The children loved them… young ones and adults alike!
Come Easter Saturday and Sunday I was here…

Judy created gorgeous posies for the children. And with my homemade organic Tamarillo Chutney - the Tamarillo’s grown in Judy’s garden - I set out to display it all.

A native bee was attracted to the flowers…
The highlight of my first day was when three girls visiting their grandparents and ranging in age from 6 to 10, came running up to me to see what I had… Exchanging hugs and watching them select their chosen seed cup and posy of flowers was heartwarmingly special.
Next week I’ll share another project dear to Judy’s heart.
Until soon… in your wanders and on your walks, may nature’s beauty be a gift to pause and ponder the wonders of life’s great outdoors.
