- Waterfall Wonders (Part I)

After the owners left on Saturday, I drove to Mt. Shasta City and walked the streets to acquaint myself with the vibe and mainly where to purchase food. Shop after shop sold crystals and crystal singing bowls, which surprised me as there are no such gems to be mined in the area - thankfully. From what I could glean, the ‘spiritual’ people who came to worship the mountain purchased the crystals. After bypassing most of the shops I felt the pull to enter, likely the largest, store in town. Crystals everywhere! And I felt for them… as if animals, they were locked away in glass cabinets or on show in many displays.

*I saw a city in this one…

I had made my way through all the rooms upstairs and was halfway through the ground floor area when I felt my throat tighten… never a comfortable feeling for me, knowing there was a not-so-savoury energy present in the space. Then I coughed until I choked and fled the building unable to respond to the owner who was wishing me a lovely day behind me.

Yeesh!

Yet, this was part of why I was here, to meet with that mountainous strength of myself where I could and would - someday soon - harmonise such an encounter so that they never affect me.

*Being able to walk behind the cascade was lovely… the best outdoor shower I’ve seen, yet the water is freezing straight from the mountains!

McCloud River’s Three Waterfalls

On the McCloud River Trail, my solo walk turned into guide as signage to the falls was only present for Lower Falls and non-existent for Middle and Upper Falls. It was a case of follow your instincts, keep your eyes on the path, choose wisely and keep going. It was on the return that those walking up asked, ‘How much further?’ ‘Is this the right way to the next Falls?’ etc…

While each Falls was accessible with its own car parking area, I parked at the Lower Falls and walked all three before returning… 4 miles round trip (6.437 km).

*Lower Falls is a popular spot for swimming and trout fishing

As you walk alongside the water, the landscapes change…

*I only saw the bear (rock) in the photo & video later… do you see it?

Here I am at Middle Falls… a lovely woman offered to take my photo… here, I have clamoured down to stand on a rock with water surrounding me.
