Fact: It is mid-March already and the post you’re now reading is my first for 2025! Of course, there are as many reasons as there are ocean vistas to appreciate… I write to you from a beautiful seaside location where I care for a sweet 14 years Cavoodle that snores her own unique melody 😉 … the view from where I type encompasses shades of blue - horizon and ocean - with the foreground rolling in mountainous greens.
Fiction: Obviously, it is not true that I have invented a new way to live… The reality is life has felt very destabilising, despite a dear friend surrendering her loungeroom to house me and my essentials, for which I simply cannot thank her enough.
I find it a curious subject when friends ask how this came about and how I feel about it, and to be honest, nature decided - that is, it was time for me to move on from my son’s house, and because I didn’t know what course of action to take, two opportunities arose and I chose from there. Alas, my dear friend and I both knew it was temporary and what comes next is anyone’s guess. From my perspective there is a cosmic order to every opportune event that unravels to reveal more choices and decisions to be made. May my next move be more long-lasting and potentially permanent because living in a constant state of flux for more than three years - in respect to housing - is taxing on one’s body: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual.
Astrologers are saying today’s total lunar eclipse in Virgo will rectify what has run its course so we can move on. All I know is it is intense! How is it for you?
Moving on…
One of my recent decisions was to register my interest for a house and pet sitting opportunity at Aireys Inlet on the Great Ocean Road. It had been a dream to visit the Redwoods Otways after I’d clearly heard the word OTWAY in a dream. Getting out and about is one way to discover new places, meet new people, discern at a deeper layer what I feel when there.
Before I share my Aireys Inlet experience, it is best to start with the road trip from which this location would end.
PART 1: SA Road Trip
For anyone who doesn’t live in Australia, SA stands for South Australia. First and foremost, it felt right, true and beautiful to visit my mum in Adelaide. I then decided to include in my visit many locations relevant to my ‘previous lives’ - so to speak - including the Riverland, Fleurieu Peninsula and South East of South Australia where school friends and more recent friendships had formed.
On the way I stopped to appreciate the mural artwork on silos and buildings:
My next stop was by the Avoca River for a cup of tea from a thermos and a short stroll onto the bridge:
The signage on this bridge post made me laugh…

More beautiful silo art, though I don’t recall exactly where!
Almost eight hours later and I arrived safely in the Riverland where a friend I went to high school with lives by the Murray River:

I felt the ancestors presence embedded in the ancient limestone, stained by floodwaters, home to the river red gums, pleased to see Mother Earth’s waters clean and flowing freely after previous flooding.
Join me next week for Part 2 and the City of Churches. I hope true resolutions are on their way to you too, if needed!
