At 6800 ft we finally meet… my friend is a very gracious person, generous, forthright and caring. I greet her at the second entrance to Sand Flat, and on our brief walk together she shows me where the portals are. I wonder what the true meaning of portal is, and remain open to what I might feel—if anything.
In Latin portal ‘porta’ means gate. Isn’t it interesting that we humans have organs that are portals through which blood vessels pass? Yet, while all the dictionaries refer to the physical portal as grand and imposing, what about the portals we are not used to seeing and often only feel? Sometimes these are signified by trees, as one example, or a change in the atmosphere. Portals can be felt in nature, buildings and anywhere a time-space coordinate contains stored information. Of course, there are other definitions of portals but I’m not referring to those.
At an entry or exit point, we have the opportunity to read the lay of the land, so to speak. So when I first laid eyes on rocks in the shape of a butterfly, a heart and a womb on a sandy rise they mentally reminded me of a heart I had created from rose petals in Canada in 2016 (I wrote about this in intrepid Soul) and other shapes I had created from sticks, feathers and all things nature.
As my friend needed to keep moving so she could be back in time for a work commitment, we continued to a path that led down a hill towards a large circle.
‘Can you feel it?’ she asked.
‘I can feel something,’ I said.
We stop and stand next to a large girth pine, the top of which is no longer there. A curious thought enters my awareness and I wonder if it had been struck by lightning.
‘My friend says we must ask this tree to enter… that it is a very powerful grandmother-type tree.’
I acknowledge it’s big but feel I must step forward and place my right palm gently against its bark… close my eyes and wait. Soon, coppery-coloured particles reminiscent of millions of tiny insects swarm and pull from 4 corners of an outer square gushing like sand through an hourglass to pour into a central vortex of spiralling energy.

Granted permission to enter, we move toward a large open flat space encircled with outer stones and one central stone. As we walk we talk about balance and how opposing strengths can support one another.
‘What do you get?’ she asked as we stopped outside the circle to stand still.
‘I get mixed energies… it’s not all pure. I want to stand opposite you,’ I said moving.
‘That’s better,’ she said, ‘I can feel the difference.’
Next, we made another quarter turn and stood facing each other. Then she completed the circle to stand next to me. ‘So?’
‘So… this is reminiscent of a dump… where all the rubbish is offloaded. It feels good now… ready for another day of visitors,’ I said.
We chat about everything that arises on the way back to our vehicles and say farewell until we next meet in a few days. As I climb into the car I hear/translate a message from the light of her, ‘You’re meant to stay awhile longer honey.’
As her vehicle drives away behind me, I climb back out of the car and walk back to where we had been.
I love exploring more of my multidimensional being… it’s curious… not fully understood and it doesn’t matter. I simply appreciate being here and part of life’s tapestries of reawakening opportunities to live on Earth at this time and have nature speak through me. At pivotal points, the bliss is overwhelming, here on the mountain… I’ve been so used to living the opposite. What a gift!
There can also be the presence of something else that infiltrates one’s peace or rises from deep within… this journey is highlighting to me how to discern the difference.
In my next post, I take heed of the woman who gave me a lift into town, when she spoke of taking a wrong turn and not reaching Heart Lake. She has yet to go back despite living in Mt. Shasta for twenty-one years!
Are you becoming more aware of your true capabilities as a multidimensional being of light?
